It's all in a jumblie jam class - come play with us!
A global music smorgasbord sampling of instruments and rhythms:
the shape, sound and colourful ribbons of the adulf drum from Portugal fascinates both babies and toddlers;
a mento beat from Jamaica pleads with Liza to come back and us to get up and dance;
lullabies from all over the world lull us as we gently sway and hum to hand chimes from India;
maracas take us to the land of the joropo and Venezuelan harp;
the daouli from Turkey and Greece with a low dum-dum moves both big and little feet to dance around the room;
with the strident agogo playing a bell pattern from Ghana we feel the fun of syncopation;
and a partido alto pattern played on a Brazilian pandeiro or tam-tam invite us to samba!
Rhythm sticks, bells, sandblocks and shakers - all designed for little hands - ensure that children can explore and have fun learning about a wide variety of musical styles while developing motor skills. Interactive instrument play, singing, vocal play and movement activities create an awareness of a magical diversity of sound in the everyday world around us and in the songs, rhythms and instruments of our global family.
Let yourself be inspired to sing, dance and play music together with your child.
